Georgia Hosta Society

bringing enthusiasts together since 1984

Are you partial to hostas? So are we!

We're the Georgia Hosta Society. Welcome! The Georgia Hosta Society brings together hosta enthusiasts ranging from beginners to veterans; patio gardeners to those with an acre or more of wooded landscape; amateur hybridizers to professional growers. We hope you'll consider joining us in the rewarding and delightful work of selecting and nurturing these fascinating and beautiful plants in our local environment.

It's Almost Showtime!

Imagine a hall verdant with leaves of many, many shades of green—ranks of leaves groomed to their best and ready to impress!

This will be "Giboshi." The word "Giboshi" is the Japanese word for hosta, and it's our name for the Georgia Hosta Society's 29th Annual Juried Hosta Show.

The show—free to all—will be open for public viewing on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 9:30 am until 3:30 pm at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Tucker, 2367 Main Street, Tucker, Georgia. Awards will be presented and winners—both hosta and human—will be introduced at a brief 1:00 pm ceremony.

Why not join us by entering the show? There are no entry fees. Submit your finest leaves and container-grown hostas to compete for ribbons and awards. Submissions will be accepted on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm and Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 7:00 am - 8:30 am. Access to the drop-off area for show entries is in the rear of the First Baptist Church of Tucker Fellowship Hall off Lynburn Avenue between 4th Street and Main Street. Off-street parking is accessible from Lynburn Avenue.

Let's buy plants!

Saturday, May 12, isn't just the date for our fabulous juried hosta show. It's also the date for our 29th Annual Plant Sale!

Held in conjunction with the juried show, the sale also will take place at the First Baptist Church of Tucker, 2367 Main Street, Tucker, Georgia. You really don't want to miss this event! Greg Ferguson, our vendor liaison, has lined up a stellar group this year. Yield to the temptation! We all do :)
